Billy’s home and I could actually do something albeit briefly but alone. He always wants me home by lunchtime so he can get all his stuff done which I find aggravating but I guess I’m glad I don’t have to nag him to do his chores.
The rain is pouring and has been since yesterday afternoon. We had a wonderful week of going to the pool and the result was a clean house since I wore the girls out everyday. Cate napped in the afternoons. Emma watched movies and I got to relax. It was like a week of vacation. I am so glad preschool is over! Summer will fly though. Emma starts kindergarten at the end of August.

They are so in love with this papasan chair I found at a yardsale last Saturday for $2. What a deal! Emma calls it her TV chair.
This rain is really great for growing tomatoes. See our redneck garden? I have got to get out there and weed. I’m hoping we can just use a tiller to do in between the rows.

Our grass is going to be so green! I love this time of year.

But thanks to this rain, I’m going to stay here and veg. So I thought I’d make some cinnamon rolls. Here’s the start of them. Mmm. Gotta love (and hate!) the breadmaker. It makes it so easy. Takes about three hours though so I think this is going to be more like a brunch thing.

The recipe for this is so easy. I don’t think you really need a breadmaker but it helps. You start with a 1.5 pound dough for “Classic White Bread” – I changed it slightly.
4 oz warm water, 4-5 oz. warm milk, 1 and 1/4 tsp. kosher salt, 1 and 1/2 T. olive oil, 1 and 1/2 T. sugar (or you can use honey), 3 c. bread flour, 1 1/2 tsp. active dry yeast.
I add those ingredients in that order into the breadmaker and it takes about an hour and a half for the dough then you take it out. Roll dough into a 15×9″ rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Spread about 2 T. softened butter onto this rectangle of dough. Sprinkle with a mixture of 1/4 c. sugar + 2 tsp. cinnamon. Roll dough beginning at the 15″ side tightly and then slice into nine 1 and 1/2″ slices. Arrange in a 9×9″ pan. Cover and let rise for about 40 minutes. Bake in 375 degree preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 10 minutes and then top with a powdered sugar glaze or whatever you like. Yum!
I LOVE your backyard!!
The girls are too cute. I swear they look way closer in age than they are.
Know what I hate?
All the evil in the world. All the disturbed people in the world.
Know why?
Cuz already the baybees on my end of the world have to be taught about privacy and privates and modesty.
Nekkid Baybees are the bomb! Runnin’ around backyards through sprinklers, just in chonies? That’s fun and delightful.
Instead, the 6 and 5 year olds have to take those breaks to put on swimsuits, to hide when changing, to wear blankets when topless around the house…because one never knows who’s going to be over, and one never knows who isn’t who they pretend to be.
I much prefer the shelter of innocence. You go, Cate and Emma, and you hang in there, Mommy Elisa.
Don’t forget to remind Daddy that the terminology isn’t ‘babysitting’ when it’s your own kids
That chair DOES look comfy!!!!!!!!!! Good bargain!
You have a great back yard! My tomato plants aren’t doing jack sh*t. I dont know what’s wrong with them……maybe not enough sunlight and too much water.
