What has become of me? All I do is get lost in the world of Facebook when I get online and then forget all about updating this ol’ blog.
Yesterday was Emma’s 5th birthday. I worked from morning until 5 p.m. getting ready for her party. It was just our little family and my friend Jaimie, her husband, three kids, our Aunt Willie and cousin Amber and her son stopped by briefly.
The girls are alternately fighting and crying while I type this. Ugh.
I cleaned. Got laundry caught up. Made macaroni salad, a veggie tray, deviled eggs and then I cleaned some more. Emma and I went out and bought a cake from Kroger and I got some decorations at the Dollar Tree. They turned out pretty I think. I found this butterfly tissue paper garland that was really well worth a buck. It had two shades of pink and a pale green and when you opened it, it fluttered out in 3D. Very pretty.
We made wings. Billy prepped them and then deep fried them outside and we had barbecue sauce and buffalo sauce that I made (Frank’s hot sauce and butter – yum!) Everything was delicious.
I think my favorite part of the party, other than seeing an insanely happy Emma wearing her crown the entire time, was spending some time with my dear friend Jaimie. I don’t get to see her as often as I’d like because she lives on the other side of town from me. We’ve known her forever and she is such a good person I always feel blessed to have her as a friend. She’s the type to just dig right in and help you with the dishes. She is family to me and always will be.
Emma got plenty of presents but we still need to fix the tire on the bike we got her. I think it needs a new inner tube. She loved everything and was just so happy. Our girls fell in bed at almost 9 and were asleep within seconds. I was exhausted.
Though I adore my friend Jaimie after over three hours of partying I was exhausted! Her boys kept asking me for lemonade and her 10 year old daughter wanted to get her hands into *everything*. She asked to play with my camera (I let her briefly), to try on my shoes (I let her), to use my pedicure tub thing (I told her I was tired and had no idea where it is), to play on my computer (I told her no!) and with that no she got terribly offended and stormed off to pout. Ugh. I was kind of happy when they all took the hint and left.
Billy made me kind of angry because he sat on the deck or stood in the yard with Jaimie’s husband for what seemed like an eternity shooting the shit and having a few drinks while I’m inside the house with six kids unable to converse with Jaimie due to the incessant requests and lots of noise. Uh, yeah. Men are so selfish. He said later it were my fault for not asking him for help. Excuse me, why must I ask?
Anywho, here’s a few pictures. It was a good party I think.

I love that behind Emma you can see Aunt Willie reflected in the glass and behind Cate you can see Emma in the door.
A very happy birthday to Emma!
Happy Birthday Emma!
Sounds like fun!
I had no idea you blogged!
I have much reading to do, I can tell…
