Frozen Fingers

It’s so cold and I’m sick of it. I ought to make me some more coffee. I had a cup this morning already though. Hmmm.

Billy is off today so he went with me to take Emma to preschool – first time ever! And then we went to the gym. He says all the guys in the weight room are “sight fucking” me. His explanation of the term is that they are checking me out and imagining having sex with me. Ha! Think he’s paranoid much? He also is not a fan of Mr. Fabulous. You would think a gay man would be the least threatening person there to him but for whatever reason Billy thinks he’s an ass (ok, it’s based on some of the comments he’s made to me that I’ve stupidly repeated to him).

I did the elliptical for a bit while trying to read a book but it wasn’t working and the old man beside me kept making noises and it was getting on my nerves so I decided to go find Billy. We walked about two miles on the track while talking about everything under the sun. It was very nice. Then we went swimming and sat in the hot tub for a good long time. Afterward, I showered and dressed in the sauna (my new trick – it’s so nice and warm in there that my hair is nearly dry when I’m done!)

We got Cate and went to Kroger and then to the library. It was fun having him with me and he was actually being pleasant for a change. I think Cate enjoyed it and then when we picked up Emma she was thrilled to have Daddy there, too.

We drove out to the other side of town so he could get some brochures about these buildings he wants to put on our property. Kind of like a poor man’s garage I guess you’d call it. It’s just sheet metal and a roof. You get the concrete poured on a level spot and like magic you have a garage! It would cost around $5,000 he estimates. His idea is to refinance our house and do it that way. He says interest rates are lower now than what we got when we refi’d about 4 years ago. I don’t know. We’ll look into it and he can dream.

Billy seems more optimistic about his job and even if he lost it he is confident he could do something else as he’s certified in HazMat, welding and a bunch of other stuff I can’t remember. Basically, he could go work for another company around here that needs similar maintenance employees or he could join the union and travel for work. It made me feel a bit better just to know that. Things aren’t as bleak as I had thought. He is getting in his 36 hours and hopefully soon things will pick back up. In the meantime, it’s nice to have extra help around here and we can get some projects done that he hasn’t had time to do.

We discussed vacation plans for this year but he says he wants to wait another year until Cate is older and instead just do the lake and the pool thing again this year and work on our house. *sigh* I miss seeing the ocean but I guess he’s right.

I am so tired right now. I went off the sugar-free wagon yesterday and called it a cheat day. Well, let me tell you what happens when you go about two weeks with very little sugar and then you eat some. You feel like shit! You will be ready to take a nap at the drop of a hat and have a hard time concentrating on anything. At least that was my experience yesterday after eating sticky buns for breakfast and a small amount of chocolate after dinner last night. It was awful. So today I’m back on my game. I lost another half a pound this week. I’ve been weighing every Saturday morning and writing it down so I’m not obsessing as much. That made me 180.2 this week. At least I lost whatever I gained between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Oh and lastly! I found out I get paid at the skate rink this coming Friday. I took Emma there yesterday to skate. I can’t believe they didn’t give me a discount on my kid though I got in for free. It was $8!!! *gasp* She had fun though. We left Cate here with Billy and had some fun one on one time.
