It’s the 4th of July already. I can hardly believe how fast this year has flown. Tomorrow it will be two years since our house was struck by lightning, this month marks three years since I started this blog and later this month, it will be five years since we conceived Emma. It all blows my mind.
Billy got hurt at work yesterday. Some piece of equipment slammed into his left side while he was fixing some machinery. He has a huge swollen area and he was worried about his kidney. The medic/nurse at his work tested him though and said his kidneys are fine. However, he has to work today. I wish he would have gone to see a doctor and filed a worker’s comp claim just in case it turns out to be serious. I’m worried about him. He swears he’s fine though so whatever. You can’t make a man go to the doctor if he doesn’t want to, but I wish he would have taken the day off and gone. All this after just having poison ivy in his eye earlier this week and having to go to the doctor Tuesday for shots to make the itching stop. He’s severely allergic to poison ivy and oak.
I called and invited his parents and his grandfather over tonight to eat with us. I’m just grilling hotdogs and hamburgers and serving chips and watermelon, with maybe a veggie tray to make it more healthy if I can get motivated to chop up all the vegetables. His parents sounded thrilled.
After dinner, I’m going out with my friend G and then she’s coming back over here to spend the night. You dedicated readers might remember her from back in May.
I’ve been looking forward to this for over a month. I had set a goal for myself to have lost a good chunk of weight by the 4th of July and I’m down a good 10 pounds so I’ll say it was a success.
We’re headed to this bar down at the lake that will have a live band. It should be fun. I haven’t been there for a few years. I used to go with ex-friend Tracy a lot and we always had a blast. That’s the only thing I miss about Tracy - she was great for a good time. G is too though and she’s much more together and less annoying than Tracy was. G makes me feel good about myself where Tracy would always say shit to try and tear me down. Not sure why I stayed friends with that twit for five years but live and learn, right?
I went to Cato yesterday and found a sassy little red shirt to wear. I haven’t decided if I’m wearing jeans or capris. I have both. I have black strappy heels I could wear or white wedge espadrilles or these silver funkadelic shoes I got at the Goodwill a long time ago. They are the most comfortable of my choices. Maybe I’ll take a picture of each and stick it here later although no one is probably reading since it’s a holiday so I doubt you’d be much help. If you’re reading this though, feel free to give me your opinion! I’m leaning towards the silver because you’re not going to see much of the foot part if I wear jeans, just my toes and they are the most comfortable:P
Yeah, I know they are dirty. Gross, huh?
I found a cute silver belt to wear around my hips like Tracy always used to do. It was on sale for cheap so I thought it might be kind of snazzy. We’ll see. I also found a silver bead necklace that I think will be pretty under the nightlights. I plan on shaking my ass with the best of ‘em even if I look like a nut. It’s going to be a great time!
Wish me luck that I don’t run into any drunk drivers (my worst fear!) and that I stop myself at one drink. If I feel like I’m unable to drive, I’ll have to call my FIL to come get us and that would not be good but I will totally do that rather than drink too much and drive, risk a DUI or worse, kill someone.
G and I will be riding in the mom mobile I think though I would love to ride in her silver sports car! Man, she must have a great time. I can’t imagine living her life. She’s an engineer up near Virginia Beach and makes the jack. She’s never been married and has no children. Totally opposite lifestyle from mine.

Hey your outfit sound fun and funky! I love all of those shoes, so any pair you pick would look great.
Congratulations on losing 10 pounds! It’s a wonderful feeling, isn’t it? Has your hubby noticed yet? If not, knock him over the head for me…..no wait, don’t hit him yet…not until he recovers from his injury yesterday. Poor dude.
Happy 4th!!!!!
Behave yourself tonight!!
So I’m dying to know which shoes you went with?
I hope you had fun!!! *WOOT!*
Hope you had a blast at the bar, E. I loved the silver shoes best, and that belt is to die for! I adore funky accessories, and sometimes a low slung belt is just the ticket! Hope you had fun, and didn’t have to call FIL!
