Visit from Grandma & Pa

I woke up this morning shortly before 3 am. Can’t go back to sleep. I think I had five hours of consecutive sleep. Billy was home last night. He and Emma are sleeping still. I am doing laundry. Never did take that nap yesterday. Instead I made dinner and dessert, too.
Janie got me a subscription [...]

Silent Gratitude

It is quiet. Once again, I hear nothing but the sound of Billy breathing and the refrigerator humming. It’s beautiful outside again. We opened a few windows to air out the house. We both hate that stale feeling it gets when it’s been closed up for days.
I need to go send off a few things [...]

She Loves Me

Billy is working his third 12 hour shift in a row and I’m home with Emma. She went to sleep like an angel last night, no problemo, at 8 pm.
I couldn’t sleep. At midnight, once again, with blurry eyes from reading this Jodi Picoult book called Picture Perfect, which isn’t really all that good, but [...]

"Bye, Daddy!"

That’s what Emma just said without turning her head from the Baby Noah DVD she is watching in her rocking chair.
Billy is leaving for work. He slept most of the day. I got a nap, too. We all napped. I made baked spaghetti for us for dinner and we ate together. He gave her a [...]

Quiet House

It is a beautiful Saturday here. I think it’s going to be warm, too. I can’t believe this is January. I’m sure we’ll pay for it in February and March.
Emma’s swim lessons went, well, swimmingly! She really seemed to get into it more today. She was very comfortable with “Miss Pat” even going right from [...]

Daddy Love

Billy just called. He’s getting ready to clock out and come home. I looked at Emma and said, “It’s Daddy!” and put the phone to her ear. I don’t know what he was saying, but she was just smiling. Then she said, “Daddy” in the cute little way that she says it, sort of like [...]

The nurse called today from Physicians to Women, or whatever she was. She sounded like an idiot really. She scared the crap out of me. She said my test was a little low. I was thinking about the glucose test. Then she said “he” wants me to take an iron pill every other day. I [...]

It’s a Brand New Day

Friday. The sun is out again. It’s cold but warmer than yesterday and we expect it to be in the 60’s tomorrow. I may be able to start painting the new nursery with that primer we bought tomorrow. Maybe we can get that room prepped today.
Billy’s home until tonight when his three nights of work [...]
